Hi Alan, I just recently closed on a rate & term refinance with GuardHill and just wanted to send you a quick note to say how impressed I was with the overall process. Lee Hamway, my main contact, and his associate Elie were outstanding. The process was transparent and straightforward, and the communication / responsiveness of both Lee and Elie was not only impressive but at many times quite reassuring.
As you may realize, Alan, from the consumer side, the mortgage lending process can be a bit daunting. Although refinancing a mortgage may seem like a simple process, once you get out into the market you realize it is hardly so. For example, my longstanding financial advisor suggested that I use his mortgage broker. A friend at one of the major banks suggested that I move some of my investment assets over to the bank to take advantage of “relationship pricing.” While having these parallel discussions, it became clear to me how much variability can actually be involved in a simple “rate and term” refinance — both in terms of knowledge / professionalism as well as in my sense of who was thinking about “which program was best for me” vs. “which program would be best for the lender.”
Needless-to-say, that was not my experience with Lee or GuardHill. Lee takes a real “customer first” type approach and that was apparent through our initial discussions. I felt like Lee was not trying to “sell me on a product” — rather, he was trying to help me think through my options. And I really appreciated that. And in terms of execution — well, Elie was fantastic. He is probably one of the unsung heroes at GuardHill. He was meticulous about keeping track of everything, keeping me informed (both day and night) and brought things to a successful conclusion.
We closed last Friday. Our loan should fund this Wednesday — hopefully without a glitch. Bottom line — working with GuardHill and with Lee / Elie was a top-tier experience and I look forward to working with this team again and recommending to others.
